Ashleigh sighed, her shoulders sagging a bit in disappointment. She felt bad for not hearing what Charlie had said, it certainly had not been intentional. And she really could not think of anything to talk about, things were just running through her head and nothing seemed to stand out, or fit at the moment. So she was relieved when he spoke up again, with a question. "Something else taking over your mind?" he asked. "You seem a bit distracted. Either that, or it's just me talking your ear off that you weren't looking for." "I was realizing that I couldn't remember if my father had done dad type things with me or my brother, ya know?" Ash shrugged her delicate shoulders. "That and I felt bad for asking you such a personal question....but we all live together so we have to get to know each other somehow, right?" ooc: accidently deleted the thread!

Charlie only nodded when Ashleigh said she couldn't remember if her dad had done things like that. What else could he say to that? He hadn't really thought about the possibility that people might not remember how their parents were to them before the invasion. For Charlie, fishing with his dad was like remembering yesterday and spending time in the river museum was like last week. It wasn't nearly that close in reality, but maybe it was because Charlie just had a good memory. Either that, or it was because Charlie hadn't had nearly as many dramatic things happen to him since that moment. Sure, he'd run around a lot, but he didn't have so many people to lose or near-death experiences. That probably changed how people would remember their past.
It was sad though, to consider not being able to remember things like that about his dad - to have so many traumatic events running around in his head that they blocked out a lot of the good things that had happened before. He was glad that wasn't the case, and also a little guilty. Not much he could do about it though.
"Of course," Charlie replied to Ashleigh's second question. "And don't feel bad about it. It wasn't too personal for me. I like remembering my dad, which is why I still like fishing so much." He glanced back out at the water for a moment, which was calm and his line was slack. Fishing never was a fast game, which was part of its appeal. "Besides," he added, "I'm an open book - not afraid to talk about anything. Or at least I'd like to think so. You're welcome to try me."
((Oops, ah well!))

Ash nodded in agreement, even though she was unsure as to what she was agreeing with. She resumed brushing her long hair, her eyes glued to Charlie's fishing pole. "It's hard to remember things....my brother and I were in the system when the Souls invaded." Ashleigh paused, clearing her throat. "Do you ever wonder what it's like? Being inserted with one of the Souls?" Her cheeks tinted pink at the question. But she often wondered. And how could she not since her twin brother had been inserted all those years ago.
